San Juan Island - Friday Harbour

A few weeks back, I turned 27 and decided to mark the occasion with (what is quickly becoming a new birthday tradition) a trip to a place i've never been before! I decided on San Juan Island (Friday Harbour) after being told such great things about it from a friend I had worked with, who lived there and was going back over the summer break. She insisted that I come visit, so with my husband and a couple of friends we took the trip from Victoria BC to San Juan Island, WA. We had planned to camp for the 2 nights we were visiting but as luck would have it, the weekend of my birthday the weather decided to rain! So once we arrived we all upgraded to a cabin for the weekend which was pretty damn amazing! Sure beats camping any day! While we were there we visited Roche Harbour, Hiked Mount Young. Situated at the north end of the island, the 650-foot summit offers unmatched panoramas of San Juan, Canada’s Gulf Islands, Vancouver Island, and beyond. Followed by a visit into Friday Harbour where we stopped for the best handmade Ice Cream at Yo Friday Harbour Followed by a stop at San Juan Vineyards for some local wine tastings! (Their 2014 Siegerrebe was Ah-Mazing)

San Juan Island (Friday Harbour) is the biggest Island of the San Juan Islands and incredibly gorgeous. I wish we could have stayed longer to explore this beautiful place. I loved the vibe of this Island, with good local food all around (no Starbucks or fast food), friendly locals and amazing views wherever you look. If you ever get the chance don't hesitate to make a trip to this beautiful part of the world and see for yourself just how stunning this place is.
